Training & Resources

We are committed to building healthy teams of committed volunteers who are equipped to win in their volunteer positions.

Annual Volunteer Summit

Our volunteer teams hold an annual in-person training and team building event in May of each year. This is a great opportunity to meet other volunteers on your team, grow in your positions, and ask questions. Please make every effort to be in attendance for this event.

Quarterly Zoom Meetings

Each of our Team Leaders holds quarterly Zoom Meetings with their teams. These meetings are a great opportunity for you to share and receive feedback, ask questions, learn about changes, and about how the work you do connects to the mission and vision at Sacred Mission. Your team leader will let you know when these meetings are scheduled, and we ask that you try to attend them whenever possible.

Additional Training Materials

In addition to scheduled training events, you will receive ongoing training information from your team leaders through your team’s messaging channel.

Scheduling & Communication

Our volunteer teams use the Sacred Mission Church App and Planning Center Services as our primary means of communication.

Sacred Mission Church App • Messaging Channels

Every Sacred Mission volunteer team has a designated Messaging Channel. This is a great place to ask questions, share successes, talk about volunteering and to find someone to help cover for you when you can’t serve. You’ll also get important updates from SMC staff and your team leaders here, so be sure to check the app regularly.

Planning Center Services

Planning Center Services is our online volunteer scheduling & communication tool where you will be able to submit block-out dates and accept or decline upcoming schedule requests. Your team leader will also send out important emails through the Planning Center.

Block-out dates

We request all volunteers submit blockout dates for any Sundays they are unavailable to serve. This can be done through Planning Center at any time. You will also receive a quarterly reminder email to do so.

Scheduling

A member of the Sacred Mission Church staff or team leader will schedule you to serve in your volunteer position. After being scheduled, it is your responsibility to view all schedule requests and to accept or decline those requests. If you have any specific scheduling needs please let your team leader know.

Declining a schedule request

If something comes up and you have to decline a request, please take on the responsibility to find a volunteer replacement* and reach out to your team leader to let them know.

*Don’t forget, you can use the SMC App messaging channel to ask your team if anyone can cover for you.
